Police in New York City have identified the man wanted in connection with a random attack on 'Boardwalk Empire' actor Steve Buscemi in broad daylight in Manhattan.
The NYPD tells HNGN that the suspected attacker is 50-year-old Clifton Williams.
Police previously released photos of Williams but did not have his name.
The NYPD said the attack happened just before noon on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
Buscemi, 66, was punched in the face as he walked down the street.
EMS took Buscemi to NYC Health and Hospitals/ Bellevue in stable condition with bruising, swelling and bleeding to his left eye.
Buscemi was "another victim of a random act of violence in the city," his publicist said in a statement to local media.
The NYPD tells HNGN Williams is still on the loose and the investigation remains ongoing.
He was wearing a dark baseball cap, blue t-shirt, black pants and white sneakers. He was carrying a book bag at the time of the attack.
Buscemi is a New York native and was an FDNY firefighter before he got his break as an actor.
His breakout role was as Mr. Pink in Quentin Tarantino's 1992 film "Reservoir Dogs." He has dozens of other credits including "Pulp Fiction", "Con Air", "Fargo" and lighter fare like Adam Sandler's "The Wedding Singer."
His "Boardwalk Empire" role earned him two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe and two Primetime Emmy nominations.
Buscemi is the second "Boardwalk Empire" actor to be attacked in Manhattan this year.
On March 31, a homeless man attacked actor Michael Stuhlbarg in Central Park.
Stuhlbarg suffered a small bruise and said he didn't need any medical attention, according to the NYPD. An arrest was made in that case.
