Florida Teen Accused of Plotting Father's Murder Alongside Friend Killed Him After Carrying It Out: Police

'Both shootings connected based on evidence,' said Homicide unit

A Florida teen is accused of plotting his father's murder alongside his friend and accomplice, whom he killed after carrying it out.

In August 2022, officers arrived at a home on Sandle Drive and found Shane Payne Sr. inside, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers responded to an incident on Ortega Farms Boulevard three days later and found 16-year-old Timothy Dixon suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to a local hospital where he died shortly after, according to CBS 47.

The JSO's Homicide and Crime Scene Units conducted investigations into both incidents and were able to connect both shootings based on evidence found at the scenes and witness interviews.

Police determined that Timothy Dixon was killed by Shane Payne Sr., with the assistance of the victim's son, 17-year-old Shane Payne Jr., who was later identified as the suspect in Dixon's death three days later.

Shane Payne Jr., who was already in custody on unrelated charges, is now facing additional charges of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the crime.
