The city of Kansas City fired an employee over a social media post announcing where Harrison Butker lives.

"Just a reminder that Harrison Butker lives in the City of Lee's Summit," a post shared on the city's X account last week read, before it was deleted, according to the New York Post.

A subsequent post from the account read, "We apologize for our previous tweet. It was shared in error."

On Thursday, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas confirmed the staffer who wrote the announcement has since been fired.

"The employee has been separated from the City workforce for violation of City policy by posting outside the scope of authorized City communications. The City will have no further comment on the post or individual employees related to it," a statement from Lucas' office said, according to KCTV-TV.

Lucas condemned the post last week, shortly after it was taken down,

"A message appeared earlier this evening from a City public account," he wrote on X, at the time. "The message was clearly inappropriate for a public account. The City has correctly apologized for the error, will review account access, and ensure nothing like it is shared in the future from public channels."

The message took aim at Butker, 28, who has been under fire since delivering a controversial May 11 commencement speech at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.

While addressing female graduates, he said their "most important title" should be that of "homemaker," suggesting working women were unfulfilled.

"I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you," Butker said.

"Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world," he said. "I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother."
