Police in Ohio are worried about a potential retaliatory shooting after gunfire at a large birthday party left one person dead and 24 people wounded.

It happened just after midnight on Sunday in Akron. Several hundred people were attending an outdoor party when the shots starting ringing out.

The first moments of the terror were caught on a Ring doorbell camera and showed people running for their lives as shots are heard ringing out.

Akron police responded to several 911 calls about the shooting just after midnight. Soon after, victims started showing up at area hospitals.

Police said a 27-year-old man was killed and another 24 people were suffering from gunshot wounds. Two were listed in critical condition.

Some party guests apparently returned fire.

"Speak up in order to prevent further violence and retaliation," Mayor Shammas Malik pleaded to citizens.

Photos from the crime scene showed scores of evidence markers placed where bullet shells littered the road. Police said at least 35 shots were fired.

Multiple firearms were recovered at the scene, according to the Akron police. It was unclear if they were used in the shooting.

There have been no arrests. There is a $22,500 reward in the case.
