Suspects Trying to Steal Golf Cart Kill Houston Farmers Market Worker

Police say the employee saw the two trying to steal the vehicle when they shot him to death

Police are searching for two suspects who shot to death an employee of the Houston Farmers Market after he confronted them as they attempted to steal a golf cart Thursday morning, according to reports.

The employee, identified as Damon Dwayne Price, a 36-year-old father of two, was checking in delivery trucks with a security guard around 4:15 a.m. when he spotted the two suspects, KHOU 11 reported.

Price confronted the two, and after a brief fight, the two suspects shot him. He died at the scene, police said.

The security guard told police the incident happened so quickly that she didn't have time to pull her weapon. The guard was not hurt.

At least four shells were found nearby.

After the shooting, the two suspects fled the scene, but police said they didn't believe they got far because one of them was wearing flip-flops.

"I think they are close by," HPD homicide detective D. Crowder said at a news conference.

"So, Somebody in this area will definitely know who they are. If they don't want to give their name, they don't have to. If anybody knows who they are, please contact us. This individual didn't deserve what happened to him. He was just doing his job," he said.

"Nothing in there is worth losing your life over," Crowder added
