Mother Arrested After 3-Year-Old Hit By Car After Wandering From Motel

Police in Pennsylvania arrested a mother after her unattended toddlers was critically injured after wandering away from a motel room and was hit by a car.

The Jefferson Hills Police Department says it happened Saturday evening in the Pittsburgh suburb.

They say Shawnae Galberth had left her 3-year-old and a 2-year-old alone in an Econo Lodge room. The children left and wandered onto Route 51. The older child was hit by a vehicle.

EMS rushed the child to a hospital in critical condition.

Galberth was taken into custody by officers for two counts of felony endangering the welfare of children and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.

The driver who hit the child remained on the scene and police did not announce any charges against them.
