Four children ages 11 to 16 were arrested and charged with multiple felonies on Tuesday for allegedly battering and robbing a 63-year-old man on a train last week, the Chicago Police Department said.
As many as 10 youngsters robbed a man during a brazen attack on a Chicago train last week.
The victim was identified as 63-year-old Michael Manning by WFLD-TV.
He said he had just finished working a 12-hour shift and was keeping to himself during the train ride home when the attackers converged on him.
"This was surreal. I think I was just so shocked. I think I kind of went numb," Manning recalled to the station.
"I knew right away that this was not going to go well, no matter what I said or did," he said. "It was like I was literally running through a gauntlet of fists."
An 11-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were arrested Tuesday police said.
Each was charged with one felony count of robbery of a victim over 60 years old and one felony count of aggravated battery of a victim over 60 years old.
