Kelsey Grammar had a brief cameo in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," but would love to take on the role of Beast once again.
In an interview with Collider, Grammar admitted he was "delighted" to reprise his role of Hank McCoy. The actor couldn't wait for director Bryan Singer to ask him to make a cameo, so he ended up calling him after running into Hugh Jackman.
"Actually I called Bryan," Grammar said. "I bumped into Hugh Jackman and he said, 'Oh you're gonna be in another X-Men, mate!' and I said, 'No I'm not, I don't know anything about it.' So I made a couple of inquiries, got a hold of the script, found out that it's primarily dealing with the past and that timeline I don't have a place in, but I saw that at the end there was this coda where he made an appearance. I said, 'Listen, I really wanna be involved,' so Bryan arranged for it and I had a lovely time."
Grammar added he would become Beast again in a future installment if the plotline allowed for a cameo.
Though Grammar also had a small cameo, actress Anna Paquin was supposed to have more screen time. Writer Simon Kinberg explained to The Daily Beast this past May why Rogue's scenes didn't make the final cut.
"The Rogue/Anna Paquin scene was by far the biggest cut we made, and that was more my fault than anything," Kinberg told The Daily Beast. "When I was crafting the script, I wanted to create a subplot for old Charles and old Eric - Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellen] - to have a mini-mission together, one final adventure. And that's what the Rogue sequence was - that they went to retrieve Rogue."
"It felt like it didn't come from the spine of the film, it was an appendage where I just wanted to see the old guys get in the X-Jet for one last ride," he added. "It was a narrative detour, and in a film with this much momentum and narrative flow, you can't afford any detours."
