Lindsay Lohan Sues ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ Creators for Using her Likeness for Lacey Jonas Character

Actress Lindsay Lohan filed a suit on Wednesday, June 2 against Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. for using her likeness in the video game Grand Theft Auto V. According to court documents, Lohan alleges that the character, Lacey Jonas, is based on her life and incorporates her look and voice. The video game also uses the Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood, where the "Mean Girls" actress lived back in 2012.

According to the New York Daily News, Lohan was since banned from the ritzy hotel after allegedly failing to pay her $46,000 bill. In Grand Theft Auto V, the Jonas character lives in the hotel and at one point is seen dashing out of the building into an alley, where she tries to get a man on a motorcycle to help her ditch the paparazzi.

"Can you give me a ride past them, PLEASE!?" the character says in the game. "I'm hardly wearing any makeup. This is a disaster. I'm so f***g fat. How's my hair. Do I look cute?"

After the man fails to recognize her, the character says, "I'm really famous. I didn't do anything," the Daily News reports.

According to the Manhattan Supreme Court suit, which was filed on Lohan's 28th birthday, the "Freaky Friday" star had no idea the makers of Grand Theft Auto was going to use her image and claims that the company is ripping her off.

"The portraits of the Plaintiff [Lohan] incorporated her image, likeness, clothing, outfits, Plaintiff's clothing line products, ensemble in the form of hats, hair style, sunglasses, jean shorts worn by the Plaintiff that were for sale to the public at least two years," the papers said.

The suit also said that other companies who use her image pay Lohan and Take-Two should do the same. Last December, TMZ reported that Lohan's lawyers were gearing up for a suit and said that the actress wanted "serious money" as compensation. A rep for Take-Two declined to comment telling the Daily News, "It is our company policy not to comment on legal matters."

The cover for Grand Theft Auto V features a busty blonde woman in a string bikini taking a selfie and flashing the peace sign. According to Page Six, Lohan has also taken a very similar picture in the past.
