George Clooney is one step closer to leaving bachelorhood behind. The 53-year-old actor and his fiancée Amal Alamuddin got their marriage license in London and a notice of the upcoming wedding was posted outside the Chelsea Old Town Hall, People magazine reports.
Even though is a requirement of all U.K. citizens (Alamuddin resides in London) that such notices are posted outside the building, the Town Hall quickly removed it but not before fans were able to spot details about the ceremony.
Reportedly Clooney and Alamuddin will say "I do" in Italy in late September. It's been rumored that the exact date is set for Sept. 20 and the "Gravity" actor rented "an entire island" for the festivities, WWD reports. The location of the ceremony has not been revealed.
WWD also reported that Clooney could be wearing Giorgio Armani for the wedding. A source told the site that a team from Armani's Milan office met with the actor at his Lake Como, Italy home to start a fitting for Clooney and his groomsmen.
Alamuddin has not yet decided on a designer for her wedding gown but is said to be considering Oscar de la Renta. Clooney recently defended his wedding when the Daily Mail published a story claiming that Alamuddin's mother disapproved of the actor and the pending nuptials because of religious reasons.
The British newspaper wrote a story that Baria Alamuddin was not happy because she wanted her daughter to marry a man who was in the same sect of their strict Lebanese religion. In an op-ed piece Clooney wrote that the Daily Mail's story was "completely fabricated."
"If they fabricate stories of Amal being pregnant, or that the marriage will take place on the set of 'Downton Abbey,' or that I'm running for office, or any number of idiotic stories that they sit at their computers and invent, I don't care. But this lie involves larger issues," he wrote. "The irresponsibility, in this day and age, to exploit religious differences where none exist is at the very least negligent and more appropriately dangerous."
