“Assassin’s Creed: Rogue” made its debut at Gamescom 2014, giving gamers a look into naval and land gameplay for the title.
The teaser begins with Templar Shay Patrick Cormac steering a ship with Haytham Kenway from “Assassin’s Creed 3” to an Assassin gang hideout. Shay then docks at the hideout to hunt down his Assassin target.
Shay uses his Eagle vision to hunt the Assassin, using weapons like his firecracker gun and sleep darts at his disposal. Shay can also use a deadly air rifle, new grenades and a gas mask to avoid deadly poisons.
The gameplay seems to closely resembles “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.” For the most part, AC4 required you to travel to different islands to take down the Templars. You’d dock your ship and sneak your way into forts.
However, a second trailer revealed new weather elements to the naval gameplay; tornados and snow are just a few things players will encounter in the high seas of the North Atlantic. Shay’s ship can handle tighter turns and has better quality weapons for long-range attacks.
“Assassin’s Creed: Rogue” follows the story of Shay, a Templar Assassin Hunter who once belonged to her Brotherhood. It is a direct sequel to “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag,” and will be released to the PS3 and Xbox 360 on Nov. 11.
“Set in the 18th century during the Seven Years War, Rogue completes the North America saga that began with Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. From loyal Assassin brother to the Templar’s favored hunter, Shay will travel through the arctic North Atlantic Ocean, the Appalachian River Valley and a bustling New York City on his mission to destroy the Assassins,” according to UbiBlog.
