'Batman vs. Superman' Movie: Benedict Cumberbatch Refuses To Confirm Casting, Says 'Let The Rumor Mill Run'

Benedict Cumberbatch refused to comment on whether he has joined the “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” production.

During an interview with E! News, Cumberbatch played coy when asked if he would be playing Braniac or Martian Manhunter in “Batman vs. Superman” or the upcoming “Justice League” movie.

“I think Batman vs. Superman is going to happen. It’s a film that’s being made,” Cumberbatch said jokingly. “I’m not at liberty to say whether I’m Batman or Superman.”

However, when E! News asked about the “Justice League” movie, Cumberbatch didn’t shoot down the rumor.

"'Justice League,' yeah. Maybe. Let the rumor mill run,” Cumberbatch said. “I don’t know. I mean this is like the second time I’ve heard these rumors. I love rumors.”

Though Cumberbatch’s appearance in the production remains unconfirmed, “Arrow” star Stephen Amell hopes his character would make it into the “Justice League” film.

Comic Book reports Amell spoke to a panel at Salt Lake Comic Con where a fan asked if his character would be appearing in any DC films.

Amell told the panel audience he would love to be in the “Justice League” movie, but his CW show schedule takes up most of his time.

“I don’t think that logistics are going to make it possible for the television universe and cinematic universe to co-exist,” the actor said. “We shoot for 10 months out of the year, literally 10 months.

“And, boy, I’m just thinking about how difficult it’s going to be for when we do crossover episodes with 'The Flash,' the logistics of that.”

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
