Chloe Grace Moretz Disagrees With Jim Carrey on Violence in "Kick Ass 2"

Prior to the release date of “Kick Ass 2” on June 28, actor Jim Carrey said he would stop doing promotions of for the movie because he no longer agreed with the violence in the movie. His co-star, 16-year old Chloe Grace Moretz—who plays Hit Girl—, said she respects Carrey—who plays Colonel Stars and Stripes—but is of a different opinion when it comes to the movie’s violence according to TorontoSun.com.

"It's a movie. If you are going to believe and be affected by an action film, you shouldn't go to see Pocahontas because you are going to think you are a Disney princess,” he she told The Sun based in Great Britain. "If you are that easily swayed, you might see The Silence of the Lambs and think you are a serial killer. It's a movie and it's fake, and I've known that since I was a kid... I don't want to run around trying to kill people and cuss. If anything, these movies teach you what not to do."

Carrey’s comments abozut the “level of violence” in the movie came after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012. During the tragic shooting, 20 children and six adults were killed.

Carrey tweeted his feelings earlier this year after his change of heart.

"I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to e," he posted on the social media website.

"I meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart."

"Each to their own,” Moretz told the British news outlet. “I know the movie I made and it's all good and I respect his decision."
