Anchorman 2 Release Date: Ferrell and The Boys On Board For A Third Film If Upcoming Sequel Is A Success

Anchorman 2 is perhaps one of the most hyped up and publicized movie of 2013, especially considering how much time and effort Will Ferrell is putting into playing Ron Burgundy in real life to promote the film. Apparently those involved with the flick are having so much fun that rumors are surfacing that a third film might be inevitable.

Christina Applegate has revealed that Anchorman fans can look forward to a third film if the sequel "The Legend Continues" does well at the box office.

Applegate, 42, who plays Ron's ex-wife, and former rival, Veronica Corningstone has claimed that Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner are all keen to turn the film franchise into a trilogy if the studio will allow them.

"If this one does well and Paramount says, 'Go,' we're all on board," she told Metro.co.uk in an exclusive interview.

The characters have so much fun with the characters, based on the original film from 2004, that director Adam McKay and producer Judd Apatow, are thinking about producing a second version of the sequel with all new joke material. When the film was being made, there was so much extra footage and improvised jokes that the film could be edited in such a way that the nuts and bolts of the story are the same but the jokes in each scene could be completely different.

"I know Adam's working on a version were he's changed all the jokes. You could have fifteen versions of this movie with fifteen different ways the scenes have gone but still keeping the same storyline," Applegate said. "This first cut was almost four hours long so there's an hour and a half of movie that you're not even seeing in this one."

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues comes out on Dec. 18 in the U.S. and U.K.
