iPhone 5S Leaks: Images of the New Deivce Reportedly Shows Room For Fingerprint Scanner Near Home Button

One of the most futuristic, and therefore highly anticipated, features of the iPhone 5S, rumored to debut on Sept. 20, is the inclusion of a biometric fingerprint scanner near the home button. This new feature has been largely the talk of rumor. However, new leaked photos suggest that the iPhone 5S will indeed feature an added bit of security for its users.

The fingerprint scanner would provide users of the iPhone a way to protect the information stored in their device behind a security system that will only allow it to open for the specific user who's fingerprint is stored in the handset.

According to Mashable, a French blog called Nowhereelse.fr, which ahs been known to leak components of unreleased Apple products in the past, has published a series of images that show the internal components of the alleged iPhone 5S. The photo set compared the inner workings of the next iPhone with shots of the inner workings of the current iPhone 5 model.

One of these pairs of images, which can be seen HERE, shows a home button that features a new cut out for additional components. This has caused many to speculate that the missing components would be the rumored biometric finger-print scanner. Unfortunately, it's important to note that these images are just leaks and nothing official will be known until Apple makes its announcement on Sept. 10.

Still, these images are in line with much of the rumors about the finger print scanner to date. Many believe the next iPhone will have a slightly redesigned home button. The one physical button is currently made of plastic and goes into the phone at a concave angle. The next iPhone 5S is rumored to come with a sapphire home button that will protrude out of the device at a convex angle. This will provide the necessary room for a fingerprint scanner to fit into the handheld.

Tell us what you think, are these pictures legit and if so, are you excited for a fingerprint scanner on the next iPhone?
