Prince’s new funky and groovy song “Stare” is HNGN’s New Music Monday selection for August 3. The legendary artist’s new song is his first since he started removing all of his music from Spotify on July 2, according to The Verge.
A message on his Spotify page once read "Prince's publisher has asked all streaming services to remove his catalog. We have cooperated with the request, and hope to bring his music back as soon as possible," the Verge points out. It now reads “No Recent Activity."
Nonetheless, you can also find the song on the Prince's 34th album “The Hit and Run Album,” according to Consequence Of Sound. While it is expected to be available online and in stores before the end of 2015, the singer and his band 3rdEyeGirl give us a preview in "Stare." It is the second snippet of the upcoming album Prince has released. The first single, "HARDROCKLOVER" was released on July 1. The band told BBC 6 music that longtime fans of Prince will love the songs on the new record.
“This album is absolutely for them, because it’s super funky,” the members of 3rdEyeGirl told BBC 6 Music. “It’s weird, there’s a lot of experimental sound. It’s just hit after hit and definitely caters to those fans who just love to hear what Prince has to say, rather than wanting to always hear that classic Purple Rain Prince sound.”
