Justin Bieber has finally explained why he broke down after his performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Sunday, according to People.
Bieber told talk show host Jimmy Fallon during a sit-down interview on Wednesday that it was because he wanted the performance to go well so badly that he ended up messing parts of his performance.
Recalling the time he got jeered at the last awards ceremony he attended, Bieber added that he was desperate to change people's opinions about him that it ended up being too much for him to handle.
"And everyone -- the support -- I was honestly wasn't expecting them to support me in the way they did," Bieber said, the New York Daily News reported.
"I wanted to win so badly and I wanted to do what I love, I just put everything on the line. What was so special about the emotional moment, it was authentic and real...I was just wanting it so bad."
Bieber also went on to blame the "knuckleheads" who were responsible for leading him astray. "That was pretty much it. You have to figure out what you are okay with and what you're not okay with, but you have to test the waters. I just happen to be in front of a spotlight and they caught all those moments."
Bieber unveiled his latest single "What Do You Mean" on Friday. He also revealed that his new album, which will be his first in three years, will officially drop on Nov. 13.
