Kraft Heinz has expanded its recall of Kraft Singles products for a choking hazard after identifying that the packaging issue affects 10 times as many cases as initially believed. is once again receiving negative press.
The food giant recalled 335,000 cases Thursday due to a thin strip of packaging that may remain stuck on the cheese slice even after the wrapper has been removed, reported Newsmax. Kraft Heinz recalled 36,000 cases of its Kraft Singles in July when news of the choking hazard first broke.
The move follows just over a week after the company was issued a recall of its Turkey Bacon due to health concerns.
Kraft revealed that it has received two new complaints since the initial recall in July, reported Fox News. The company disclosed three similar reports at the time and claimed that it had received seven similar complaints about the packaging.
The recall is now being broadened to include additional sizes and varieties, including:
• 4-lb. Kraft Singles American
• 3-lb. Kraft Singles American (3 1-lb. packages)
• 4-lb. Kraft Singles White American
• 3-lb. Kraft Singles White American
• 1-lb. Kraft Singles White American
• 1-lb. Kraft Singles
• 3-lb. Deli Deluxe Kraft American Singles
• 3-lb. Kraft Singles American (72 individually-wrapped Singles in cardboard carton)
The recalled products are "Best When Used By" Dec. 15 to Feb. 16, except for the Deli Deluxe Kraft American Singles, which are dated Jan. 16 though Mar. 16, according to CBS News.
Kraft Heinz noted that consumers shouldn't attempt to eat any of the affected products and can return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.
