Pink is known to be an outspoken pop star who doesn't hold back, and the "Raise Your Glass" singer showed that when she took to her private Instagram account to express her disappointment in the performances from the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, Us Weekly reported. She stood by her comments and defended herself on Twitter.
"I felt embarrassed and sad. And old. We're getting old," Pink wrote. "But in all seriousness; I felt sad because music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won't save any kids life. In a world that is even scarier and with lives still worth saving, who will stand up and have soul? Disenfranchised to say the least."
After she was criticized for slamming fellow pop stars Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj (who all performed that night), the 35-year-old singer clarified her statement via Twitter.
"You know, this is part of why I'm sad about the VMas and the world in general. Everyone is so nasty and waiting for a fight," Pink tweeted. "I never said anything about Demi Lovato or called out anyone."
Even though Pink stated that there was no feud between her and the other pop stars, Lovato took to Twitter to defend herself and her music.
"Cool For The Summer may not 'save kid's lives' or 'inspire,'" Lovato tweeted, "but I'd say 'Skyscraper' & 'Warrior' have done a pretty good job of helping people cope with mental illness."
