Miley Cyrus took to Instagram on Tuesday, asking her 28 million followers to sign a petition to stop the killing of wolves in British Columbia, Canada.
The pop star wants to pull the plug on the government's five-year wolf cull which was introduced with the intention to save endangered caribous in the province, according to The Huffington Post.
Four out of seven mountain caribou herds are on the brink of extinction in British Columbia's Rocky Mountains, according to officials. However, the 22-year-old "Wrecking Ball" singer says there is not enough evidence that indicates that wolves are the problem, according to Entertainment Tonight.
"I am shameless when it comes to making changes in a world that at times needs to re-evaluate its morals when dealing with kindness and compassion towards animals, humanity, and the environment," Cyrus wrote on Instagram. "We can't let another winter pass us by without stopping this mass extermination!"
The petition, which is being pushed by conservation group Pacific Wild, has already garnered nearly 200,000 signatures and the number is expected to shoot up after Cyrus' support, said Pacific Wild executive director Ian McAllister.
"The main sentiment we're hearing, not just from Miley Cyrus but from many people, is that they are outraged that the B.C. government is spending millions of dollars on this extremely cruel and unfounded - both scientifically and certainly ethically - wolf cull program," said McAllister.
