R2-D2 and C-3P0 were present at the unveiling of a Star Wars-themed plane in Everett, Wash. on Saturday. As Star Wars theme music played in the background, the hangar doors began to open and the Boeing 787 "Dreamliner" slowly marched out to reveal its airline paint scheme, which is designed in the likeness of R2-D2.
This new aircraft is part of the Star Wars Project of ANA, Japan's largest airline. ANA has signed a five-year contract with Disney to promote the Star Wars brand, according to The Inquisitr.
The project was first announced in April. ANA's Star Wars aircraft will take flight on Oct. 18 when it travels from Tokyo, Japan to Vancouver, Canada, Mashable reports.
This is the first of the three designs for the Star Wars Project. The second design will be of a new character to be introduced in the upcoming film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" - BB-8. The third design will be of both BB-8 and R2-D2. These two designs can be expected in 2016.
In addition to the unique paint schemes, ANA's "Star Wars Project" also calls for movie-inspired images to be added to headrest covers, paper napkins and cups onboard the Star Wars aircraft, USA Today reports.
