Burger King has decided it's time to revamp their fries; instead of adding more salt or changing up the oil used, they've concocted a way to create a lower-calorie treat for their customers.
The Satisfries are crinkle fries with 40 percent less fat and 30 percent fewer calories, according the fast food chain's official website. Satisfries have a total of 150 calories per serving, Burger King says.
"You live in Manhattan and might be having a kale smoothie on your way to work this morning," Eric Hirschhorn, chief marketing officer for Burger King, told the New York Times. "But a lot of people don't even know what kale is, and if they do, they don't want to eat it. You have to give people what they want."
Burger King is the No. 3 hamburger chain in the United States after McDonald's and Wendy's.
"On its own, this may seem like a small step," Hirschhorn said about the Satisfries. "But we think it can add up to something big."
The fries are not the only item Burger King is added to their menu. On Aug. 28, the fast food company announced three new food items will be available for their customers.
French Fry Burger: "A value menu item that combines fries into the meal priced at only $1. Savory flame broiled beef patty topped with crunchy BURGER KING® French fries, crisp lettuce, ketchup and creamy mayonnaise all on a warm toasted sesame seed bun. Available Sept. 1."
Chicken Parmesan Sandwich: "A premium white meat TENDERCRISP® chicken fillet generously breaded with homemade seasoning carefully topped with tangy marinara sauce and melted parmesan cheese all on a warm, toasted, artisan-style bun. Available now through the end of the year."
Buffalo Chicken Strips: "Premium white meat chicken battered in a seasoned home-style breading then tossed in a hot and spicy buffalo sauce. Available now in three-piece and five-pieces nicely paired with ranch dressing through Oct. 27."
