An Israeli airstrike on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip has killed a pregnant Palestinian mother and her toddler daughter, Gaza officials said.
A 30-year-old pregnant mother and her 3-year-old daughter were killed when a house near the site of the airstrike collapsed, according to The Guardian. A 5-year-old boy was also wounded in the strike.
Israel Defence Forces (IDF) struck Hamas weapon manufacturing facilities early Sunday after a rocket was fired at Israel from Palestinian territory.
"The IDF holds Hamas responsible for any act of aggression from the Gaza Strip," said IDF spokesman Lt Col Peter Lerner following the air raids, according to BBC News.
Eleven Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since clashes between the IDF and Palestinian rioters erupted on the border Friday.
Israel Army shot dead two Palestinian teenagers in the protests along Israel Gaza border Saturday, reported Al Arabiya. Five Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire during violent clashes Friday.
Hamas leadership called on Palestinians on its Friday prayer message to step up their fight against Israel.
"This is Friday, this is the day of rage... It is a day that will represent the start of a new intifada in all of the land of Palestine," Ismail Haniyeh, leader of Hamas's political wing in Gaza, told followers in Gaza, according to Jerusalem Post. "We give souls and blood for Jerusalem. Jerusalem and Aksa is part of the religion," he said.
