A video showing an African-American Texas councilman getting tased by police has raised some questions about whether or not too much force was used, according to CBS News.
In the video, 26-year-old councilman Jonathan Miller is on his knees. His back is to the police officers, and his hands are at his side. This is when he was tased. The incident happened on Thursday, and officers say that Miller was resisting arrest, because he had been warned more than once to put his hands behind his back. "He's going to have to tase you because you're not doing like you're supposed to," one of the officers said in the video.
"I live here man, I live here," Miller said.
Miller was later arrested for resisting arrest and interfering with an investigation. The video is drawing a lot of attention because one of the officers was involved with the arrest of Sandra Bland, who is said to have committed suicide after being held for a traffic violation, according to Fox News.
Miller came out of his home to speak with the officers, who were questioning three other men on Thursday night. Miller was speaking to one officer when the second told him to step away. At one point the body cam fell off the officer, so the entire encounter cannot be viewed.
"Once officers attempted to arrest Miller, he physically resisted...Mr. Miller continued to resist even after repeated commands to stop. Officers deployed a Taser to subdue Mr. Miller," an official statement from the Prairie View Police Department said.
After spending the remainder of Thursday night in jail, Miller was released on Friday, according to ABC News.
