The Home Department of Pakistan's Punjab province Saturday claimed that the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) can target Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other political figures of Pakistan.
The department, in an Oct. 9 classified memo to law enforcement agencies, said that India's RAW has been tasked to assassinate the prime minister, Jamat ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed and some other high profile personalities.
"It has been reliably learnt that RAW has planned to undertake high-value assassinations in Pakistan to create a wide-scale chaos," said the leaked document, according to Nation.
"It has also tasked its sources to gather all possible addresses of Hafiz Saeed in Punjab. The above-mentioned top-level actions have been planned to create anarchy in the country as a result of major acts of violence like assassination of the prime minister of Pakistan," it noted.
The memo further said the Indian spy agency planned to portray the killings as retaliatory actions by extremist groups in Pakistan, according to News International.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the news, saying that Sharif, who is about to leave for an official visit to the United States, will talk about the issue with U.S. President Barack Obama.
"PM will take up the issue with U.S. President Barack Obama and discuss with him RAW's involvement in Pakistan's internal affairs," said Dar, according to Express Tribune.
