Donald Trump was supposed to be guest on Tuesday night's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," but he abruptly cancelled at the last minute due to what the GOP presidential candidate called a "political obligation." Kimmel did not miss an opportunity to publicly call out Trump on last night's episode for his "cryptic" cancelation.
"You know Donald Trump was supposed to be here tonight, but last night his people called and canceled on us," Jimmy said in his opening monologue, according to Hollywood Life. "They were a little bit cryptic about why he canceled. They said 'he has a major political commitment, but he did want me to relay the message to you that if he was here, he would have been great.'"
Trump's sit-down with Kimmel would have been the GOP front-runner's third late night interview since the former host of "The Apprentice" declared his candidacy for president, according to Entertainment Weekly. Trump previously appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
"Why did he cancel? We told him there were cameras here, right," Kimmel joked to the Brooklyn, N.Y. crowd. "Don't worry, tonight we're gonna give everyone in the audience a basketball dipped in cologne so you can fully experience what it would have been like had Donald Trump been here."
Kimmel continues his week long shows from Brooklyn Wednesday, with Michael J. Fox and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
