It's been an exciting week for iPad fans. First a report from those close to the company tells us that Apple will be holding a press event to unveil the new iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 on Oct. 22 and now, some high-resolution photos of the upcoming iPad 5 have been leaked online.
According to noted Apple leak site Sonny Dickson, the new iPads displayed in what appears to be the next-generation "space gray" color featured as an option on the new iPhone 5S.
The images also show off a slimmer design of the new iPad, which takes a queue from the iPad mini. The design differences are "both apparent and extremely welcome" according to Sonny Dickson. The post comes complete with more than 70 potentially leaked images of the new iPad 5 design. The full gallery reveals the device from several different angles as well as revealing some of the interior workings as well as the back casing.
CNET points out that, if all leaks turn out to be true, the only color that the new iPad hasn't been seen in is the gold "champagne" color from the iPhone 5S. Leaked images put it in silver, now space gray.
Sony Dickson told Reuters that he receives the photos and videos from sources in China and has a pretty good track record of leaking accurate information and images from the company. However, it's important to note that no information can be confirmed until Apple's reported press event on Oct. 22 where it is expected to unveil the new iPad 5, iPad mini and announce launch dates of the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks operating system for Macs.
