Rumors and leaks for the upcoming Nexus 5 smartphone have been cropping up this week and continued with a lengthy rundown of what will supposedly be featured in the new smartphone once its launched.
A Reddit user by the name of "throwawaynexus5guy" claims to have gotten his hands on the Nexus 5 and hosted an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit Thursday where he answered any questions people had about the device's features. He didn't have it on hand saying "the device could not leave the facility" but said he would be "returning tomorrow" and that he hopes to share more, according to PCMag.
Like many other rumors regarding Google's new smartphone, the user says he is "99 percent certain" the device will be unveiled sometime on Thursday starting at $349. So far the smartphone is not a real thing but rumors and leaks over the past few weeks have made it all but a certainty. However, so far the company has not made any such announcements. Other rumors have put the unveiling at Nov. 1, so there is still hope of a launch in the very near future.
The device will reportedly be launched along with the new Google-made Android KitKat operating system, which makes the release even more highly anticipated. According to the Reddit user, the KitKat os will feature a complete backup system that will work similar to the iCloud but for Android.
According to TechCrunch, the Nexus 5 is likely sourced from hardware partner LG, just like its predecessor the Nexus 4. It is said to have a 4.9-inch, 1080p display with Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16 to 32GB of storage, an 8 megapixel rear camera/1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and, of course, the new Android KitKat operating system.
