So, no more "Pretty Little Liars?" Although, ABC Family has not officially announced an end date for one of its most-watched shows, creator Marlene King is already making predictions that the teen drama series, as far as she knows it, will end after Season 7.
"I think that this story, when we're back, will end next year at the end of Season 7," King told Variety. Then, when asked, "So you definitely want it to end at the end of Season 7 and don't want it to go beyond that?" King replied, "Correct."
The series — starring Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, Sasha Pieterse and Shay Mitchell — was renewed for two more seasons in the summer of 2014, as previously reported by HNGN.
During the show's first half of Season 6, fans finally learned that the mystery A was Vanessa Ray's character, CeCe Drake, who was also Alison's older brother, Charles, before she transitioned into Charlotte (who went by the name of CeCe).
ABC Family, which will soon transform into Freeform, has yet to release a statement about the end of "Pretty Little Liars." After her interview went viral, causing both social media and "Pretty Little Liars" fans to go into a frenzy, King took to Twitter to clarify her comments about the girls' story wrapping up after Season 7.
"What I said was 'This Uber A story that starts on January 12 will end when season 7 ends.' I did not say PLL will end. Just saying 4 real," she tweeted. King then added: "Technically I was supposed to say 'the new big bad' but let's get real, it's 'uber A.' #whatwehavebeenwaitingfor"
In August, King told TVLine, "We have enough story to take us to the end of Season 7, and we're going to let the fans tell us if they're ready to say goodbye to this world and these characters."
"Pretty Little Liars" returns for Season 6B Jan. 12.
