The next "Dragon Ball" 3DS game was announced in the latest issue of V Jump magazine, titled "Dragon Ball: Project Fusion." As the title suggests, the major theme will be combining characters using the fusion technique and fighting with them in an RPG format. For those who don't know, this clip from the anime will help:
Not many things are known about the game, such as its release date, price, etc. However, one fact that has been confirmed by V Jump's revelation is that a fusion of everyone's favorite spiky-haired hero, Son Goku, and the mega buffed-up psychopath, Broly, will be featured in the game, according to Game Rant. What he will look like, act like, and sound like are a complete mystery, given Broly's broken and unstable mind.
Bandai Namco has opened the game's teaser website, as reported by Gematsu. Two silhouetted characters are shown on the main page, resembling Goku and Vegeta, along with the seven dragon balls under their feet.
"Project Fusion" will also receive a manga adaptation, which will begin serialization in Shueisha's Saikyo Jump magazine this year, according to Anime News Network. There is also a contest where fans can submit character fusion designs with the winning design appearing in the game.
Some non-canon fusion combinations have been featured in the "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2" video game, including Tiencha (Tien and Yamcha fused together) and Gokule (Goku and Hercule). It is not confirmed that these two will be included in "Project Fusion," but the possibility is there. It is also unconfirmed as to whether or not the in-game fusions can fail, which, as many "Dragon Ball Z" fans know, can make or break a big fight.
The game will be released in Japan some time in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS. As with many previous "Dragon Ball" titles, it will likely come to the West as well, although this is unconfirmed at the moment.
