Coldplay U.S. Tour 2016: Rock Band Announces 'Head Full Of Dreams' Summer Dates (PHOTO)

While Coldplay gears up to perform the halftime show at this year's Super Bowl, they're also getting ready to embark on a U.S. tour for their seventh album "A Head Full of Dreams."

The British rock band announced their first U.S. summer tour dates Thursday after releasing the global dates back in November, according to Entertainment Weekly. The seven-date stadium tour will kick off at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on July 16, and the band will stop in major cities like Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Dallas. They will eventually wrap up the U.S. run at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco, Calif., on Sept. 3.

"U.S. stadium tour announced!" the band wrote on Instagram, alongside a colorful photo of all the dates. "Tickets go on general sale Friday, Feb. 5. See Coldplay.com for more info. #AHFODtour."

"'A head Full of Dreams' was written as a record to be performed live," lead singer Chris Martin said in a statement, according to the official press release. "We are beyond excited to play these shows across the U.S."

This Live Nation produced tour will be the band's first world tour since the 2011/12 Mylo Xyloto Tour, which visited five continents and was seen by more than 3 million people. The album was released in December 2015 and has reached No.1 on iTunes in more than 90 countries and has already sold over 3 million copies. Coldplay is also considered Spotify's most-streamed band in the world.

With the band headlining the Super Bowl 50 halftime show alongside guests Beyoncé and Bruno Mars on Sunday, Feb. 7, they'll be doing a lot of press in the upcoming weeks to discuss the band's preparations for the big performance, according to Rolling Stone. Martin will appear on "CBS Sunday Morning" on Jan. 31 and will then drop by "The Late Late Show With James Corden" on Feb. 1 for his hit segment Carpool Karaoke.

Citi will hold a pre-sale for the U.S. tour dates on Jan. 29, and public sale will follow on Feb. 5. Click here for full ticket information.
