Melissa Benoist has worked with a number of talented actors in her young career, but she only considers one her absolute favorite scene partner, husband Blake Jenner. The couple first starred together on Fox's "Glee" and reunited on screen this year in Benoist's superhero drama "Supergirl" on CBS.
Benoist and Jenner met starring on "Glee," which they both joined in 2012 during the fourth season. They got engaged in July 2013 and married last spring. The 23-year-old actor has guest starred in two episodes of "Supergirl" this season as Cat Grant's (Calista Flockhart) estranged son Adam Foster, who starts dating her assistant Kara (Benoist).
"We only have fun working together," the 27-year-old actress said. "He's my person to act with. He's my favorite scene partner, always."
Kara eventually chose to dump Adam, putting her responsibilities as Supergirl ahead of her personal life. She's still keeping her romantic options open when it comes to her co-workers James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) and Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan). Who she ultimately ends up with is still a mystery.
"That's impossible to answer," she said about the two relationships. "She's really confused about it. I don't think she's figured love out. I love how naïve she is. She's sort of a prude. She's constantly trying to figure out, 'Can I have a normal life and us these incredible powers that I have?' I don't think she knows how to do that yet."
James recently went back on the market when his girlfriend Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan Tatum) broke up with him after noticing his feelings for Kara. Also in the last episode, Winn got an unexpected kiss from Cat's new devious assistant, Siobhan Smythe (Italia Ricci).
Chyler Leigh, who plays Kara's sister, Alex, doesn't believe either man is worthy of Supergirl's affections.
"I love 'em, but they're not good enough for her," Leigh said.
In tonight's episode, "Falling," Supergirl will turn on her friends and the citizens of National City when she's exposed to Red Kryptonite, a Kryptonite variation which makes her malicious and dangerous.
"Supergirl" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
Jenner also stars in the new Richard Linklater film, "Everybody Wants Some!!" which premiered last week at SXSW. The movie hits theaters on April 1.
