Drake closed out the last night of the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, with a surprise musical performance at the Fader Fort Saturday. The Toronto rapper treated fans to a six-song set after members of his OVO crew, Dvsn, Roy Woods, Majid Jordan and Partynextdoor, took the stage after rapper Yo Gotti finished his set.
Drake started his set off with "Know Yourself" before he ran though "Legend," "Energy," "Big Rings," "Back to Back" and "Jumpman," his collaboration with Future. The rapper ended his set with "Summer Sixteen" before he announced that he'll be on tour in the upcoming months and promised stops in major Texas cities like Austin, Houston and Dallas after the release of his next album, "Views form the 6," but he gave no dates.
"I got nothing else to do but be here with you all in Austin," Drake said at the beginning of his set.
The 30-year-old teased the new music on the horizon, but he did not provide any additional details about the album or when it would be released. Drake only mentioned that "Views from the 6" was "coming in how many weeks" and that he hopes fans "enjoy that s-t." While Drake did not specify how many weeks exactly until his next album will drop, "Views from the 6" will probably be released on April 16, which he announced earlier this year before the NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto.
All of the tracks that the rapper performed were already previously released, but members of his OVO crew did share new music during their time on the SXSW stage. Partynextdoor dropped a new song after their performance at the Fader stage called "Come and See Me," which was produced by Drake's frequent collaborator, Noah "40" Shebib.
The guests at SXSW were not the only ones to be treated to a surprise performance by Drake recently. Last week, the rapper made a cameo during Rihanna's ANTI World Tour concert stop in Miami, where he joined her for their new hit-song "Work" and also performed "Jumpman" solo.
