The "Batman Arkham" series of video games have turned out to be an impressively successful lineup of popular games. Now several hints at a prolonged project from developer Rocksteady studios hints that a Batman game is currently under development following this year's release of "Batman: Arkham Origins."
According to IGN, several pieces of evidence point to a new game being developed within the DC Universe featuring Batman. The rumor rests on an off-handed comment made by voice actor Kevin Conroy earlier this year in which he let it slip that he had been working on a new Arkham game. The voice actor did not appear anywhere in Arkham Origins, this seems like a clear indication that the game Conroy was talking about has been in extended development and will likely be announced sometime in early 2014.
Another small piece of evidence adding to the intrigue are comparisons between Rocksteady's website job posting and a nearly identical posting found on cghub.com. The CG article indicated that the job placement was for a 2014 title "tipped" to be one of the most successful games of the year. It's both possible and likely that this is the game that Conroy was referencing months ago and an upcoming installment in the Batman Arkham franchise is well on its way and has been for quite some time.
In addition to this evidence, there are multiple references to the DC Suicide Squad found throughout the "Arkham Origins" and "Arkham Origins: Blackgate." These various cameos, winks and hints could be foreshadowing a Suicide Squad game, DLC for Arkham Origins. However, it's possible the presence of the Suicide Squad could be meant to gear gamers up for a potential game centered around the iconic team of bad guys from the comic books.
