You can put this one in the "fun" category of the latest tech news. It's a common practice for fans to create renderings and concept art for the next iPhone model (in this case the iPhone 6). Now a new one is showing off not only the rumored larger display screen for the upcoming smartphone from Apple, but it also borrows a page from the Samsung Galaxy S5 rumor mill and includes an eye ID scanner for extra security.
The concept comes from a YouTube video from an Italy-based company called SET Solution. The video shows an iPhone design that can be unlocked and perform many of the same functions as the iPhone 5S' Touch ID biometric finger print scanner. In other words.
"With this technology you will be able not only to unlock your phone but it will be also possible to sign-in to your app store, bank account and all of your favorite services with a level of security never reached before," text in the video reads. The entire thing is meant to look like an Apple commercial with images of the phone against a white background with minimalist text surrounding it.
The technology comes form recent rumors reported by ZDNet Korea that say the new Samsung Galaxy S5, perhaps the biggest rival Android phone to Apple's iPhone and iOS, will have "iris verification." This is likely a move that will help take the wind out of the iPhone 5S' sails. Its latest technology, the Touch ID, allows Apple to tout its phone as one of the safest and most secure on the market. Samsung will need to answer to that without copying it and an eye scanner might be the perfect way to do that.
However, fans of the iPhone seem to have created the concept art, found in the video below, in the hopes of taking the best new rumor for smartphones and applying it to the brand that they know and love.
