Rockstar Games released an update to its popular multiplayer experience from this year based in the "Grand Theft Auto V" map of Los Santos for "GTA Online." The patch provides users with a lot of bug fixes, some more welcomed than others, as well as the new team-based game type "capture the flag."
According to IGN, the update will download automatically upon signing into Xbox LIVE or the PlayStation network whenever you log in next (the update went live on Wednesday).
Capture mode features a classic CTF game type as does Raid, but each have their own unique GTA-centric mechanics. Hold mode requires players to hoard as many packages in their respective bases while the other team does the same. Contend features a shared flag in the center of the map. GTA mode forces you to steal specific cars and return them to your team's base.
Along with the subsequent update comes with 20 new jobs available in free mode. To many players chagrin, the update also removes a recently discovered glitch that allowed players, through some tricky inviting mechanics, to explore the town of North Yankton. This is an area that shows up twice in the campaign mode of the game - once in the beginning and once in the middle. Now patch 1.08 fixes that making it impossible to get to in online mode. However, the positive feedback that the area received, as well as the fact that it was there with features that couldn't be seen in the campaign, means that it's possible Rockstar is going to release North Yankton with a proper update sometime in the near future.
The patch also increases cash payouts for certain events including multiple-lap races, the losing team's bounty in Last Team Standing and Team Deathmatch and add support for a beta version of crew head-to-head matches.
