"Star Wars Episode 7" film script is officially completed and a "Breaking Bad" actor might be one step closer to landing a role in the franchise installment.
J.J. Abrams made an appearance during the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour to promote the upcoming NBC series "Believe", according to multiple reports. However, the "Star Wars" director couldn't dodge questions about the sci-fi film.
"We're working really hard and we've got our script and we're in deep prep. Full steam ahead," Abrams told the crowd, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Abrams explained his astonishment over the rumors circulating around the "Star Wars Episode 7", stating most of the stories are "a lot of noise."
"It's amazing to see how many there are," Abrams said, IGN reports. "It's really remarkable. But it's sweet, because it shows that there's an interest in this movie that we all obviously know is there. But it is incredible to see how many crazy things get thrown out that people often write commentaries about how happy they are, or how disappointed they are, about things that are completely false. It's a lot of noise."
However, one rumor floating around about the new "Star Wars" film was a meeting with "Breaking Bad" actor Jesse Plemons, the director confirmed.
"He was one of the people we spoke with," Abrams said. "It's not often that I'm reading about actors I'm meeting. I read articles about meeting with actors and then when I see them it's like, 'Oh, I read I'm going to be meeting with you!' It's usually agents talking with people about things."
Abrams also confirmed "Star Wars Episode 7" will be shot on film, not using IMAX cameras.
"The problem with IMAX is it's a very loud camera," Abrams said at the press conference. "It's a very unreliable camera. There's only so much film that can be in the camera. You can't really do intimate scenes with it. It's slow. They break down often. Having said that, they're working on digital versions of these, and so there may be a version one day that we would shoot on. But we're going to be shooting this next movie [Star Wars] on film."
"Star Wars Episode 7" is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
