A teenage girl in Mississippi is currently being held in an adult lockup facility for the attempted murder of her mother, whom the teen claims was "suppressing the black in her."
Lexi Jade Brown, 15, violently attacked her mother in the early morning hours of June 14 and stands accused of one count each of attempted murder and arson in the first degree.
Officers received a call reporting a cutting incident at a house on Dee Avenue, a heavily rural part of Gulfport that is adjacent to a large wooded area, according to the police department.
When officers arrived on the scene, they immediately located the alleged victim, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Brown's mother told investigators that she was asleep when she suddenly awoke to find her daughter attacking her with a knife.
Trying to push the young girl off, the mother alleges that's when Brown attempted to start a fire inside the home, according to Law & Crime.
Police revealed the defendant was surprisingly forthcoming about the brutal crime.
Brown freely admitted that she had been planning to kill her mother for some time now because she thought the older woman was a "weird b------" and accused her mother of attempting to "suppress the black in her," said law enforcement.
The fifteen-year-old was arrested and booked in the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with her bond set at $1.25 million by District 5 Justice Court Judge Nick Patano.
The girl's mother was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
Reports allegedly claim the violent attack may have been influenced by a collection of occult beliefs.
