The owner of a targeted Hollywood Hills home is feeling very unsettled following an elaborate multi-million-dollar heist that saw several burglars shatter their way into the home in Doheny Estates.
Coming prepared, the thieves smashed through a large floor-to-ceiling window on Tuesday at around 12:30 p.m., immediately disabling the home's alarm system and disconnecting all security cameras.
The homeowner, identified only as Luis, believes he was singled out and targeted.
"Whoever broke into this house understood the security system," Luis said.
"They went straight to the media room and disabled the internet. That allowed them to have a free pass because all of the cameras completely go offline, and automatically, the gate opens."
Luis recalled receiving a phone call from his neighbor alerting him to the hit on his residence.
The victim's neighbors witnessed three men wearing ski masks running out of the residence and driving away in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, according to KTLA.
"There were three of them," the victim explained.
"One went downstairs. One went to disable the security system while the other went to the closet to get what they came here for."
The thieves raided his closet and took off with his entire collection of expensive wristwatches.
Nearly 50 watches were stolen in total, including pieces from Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Phillippe, and more, ranging anywhere from five to six figures each.
"My entire collection of Patek Phillippe is gone," Luis said.
"All of them, every single one of them. I had some very special pieces."
He believes the robbers knew exactly where the watches were kept and specifically which watches he owned.
"To dispose of stolen watches, you've got to find buyers," Luis added.
"The watch community is a very, very tight-knit community, and if they can just watch out for a flood of watches, we're talking almost 50 very high-end watches that are going to hit the market, and you will know that some of those watches are mine."
Every timepiece carries a unique serial number along with official certifications to verify their authenticity, which confidently assures him that the suspects will be caught.
Major security upgrades are also expected, he said.
Neighbors in the area also remain on edge, as several homes in the community have been burglarized in recent months.
