Mark Hamill took to his official Twitter account to finally "confirm" he will be starring in director J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars Episode 7."
Hamill has refused to answer questions regarding his involvement with the upcoming franchise installment, including dodging fan inquiries during a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session. However, StarsWars.com has officially announced the cast members joining the production, which included the "Star Wars" alum.
"UK table read- I was knocked out by the diverse & extraordinarily talented new cast members. WOW they're good! The saga is in superb hands," Hamill tweeted to his followers.
"Star Wars" alums Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker join Hamill, as well as newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.
"We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud," Abrams said in a statement.
However, multiple reports claim the casting announcement isn't complete. Mashable Entertainment Editor Josh Lincoln Dickey claims insider sources revealed the "main group" for the feature film was announced, but there is more to follow in the coming weeks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, there is one "substantial role" left to be filled for a lead female role. THR reports insider sources claim the production is looking for a woman of mixed race who could possibly be the descendent of Obi Wan Kenobi. However, the "Star Wars" production has yet to confirm additional casting news.
"Star Wars Episode 7" will be released on December 18, 2015.
