There's a new Gladiator! "Scandal" actress Kerry Washington gave birth to a baby girl, TMZ reports. According to the gossip site, Washington and her husband Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed their first child almost two weeks ago.
Reportedly the couple wanted to keep the delivery under wraps. TMZ reports that the baby girl, named Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha, was born Apr. 21 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The 36-year-old actress married her NFL hunny in a very, very private ceremony last June. According to reports, the two have been dating since the summer of 2012. By the time news broke about Washington's wedding, she had been married for at least a week.
According to E! News, the couple tied-the-knot in Blaine County, Idaho. The intimate ceremony was attended by a small group of family and friends. The main reason Washington wants to keep her personal life away from tabloids is because of a very public split from fiancé David Moscow in 2007, People magazine report
Even though the actress prefers not to discuss her good news, Washington's Hollywood friends previously gushed to People about her marriage.
"Kerry's in it to win it, and she's winning," her friend Joe Reinstein told the magazine. "She deserves everything."
"Kerry's got her values straight," he added.
In related news, another "Scandal" star has been making headlines recently but for all the wrong reasons. Columbus Short, who plays Harrison Wright, was reportedly fired after his wife filed for divorce and accused him of holding a knife to her neck and threatening to kill her and then kill himself.
In a personal statement, Short said it was time for his character "to exit the canvas."
"At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today... Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda [Rhimes], Kerry [Washington] and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful."
