Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has big plans for their PlayStation 4 during the Tokyo Game Show in August.
Yoshida confirmed to Famitsu there will be more PS4 title announced during the big game conference. Sony will introduce first-party games and third-party titles they did not have time for during Gamescom 2014.
“To be honest, in selecting the games we wanted to introduce, we realized it wasn’t possible to fit everything into the frame of the conference, so unfortunately there were some games we couldn’t introduce this time,” Yoshida told Famitsu.
Yoshida added the Gamescom time crunch also forced the company to release trailers for “The Order: 1886” and “Bloodborne” before the conference. Sony is currently trying to expanded their place in the Japanese market.
“On the subject of PlayStation 4 in the Japanese marketplace, more content is necessary in order for it to gain ground,” Yoshida said. “If the games made by Japanese developers further multiply, game fans will gradually begin buying PlayStation 4…From here, we’re working with publishers to increase the PlayStation 4 user base.”
Sony revealed during Gamescom 2014 their PS4 consoles have sold more than 10 million units worldwide. The company claims the console is the fastest selling gaming system in PlayStation history.
"The responses we have received for the PS4 system's unique gameplay experiences powered by the network, along with its vast game portfolio has been phenomenal, and I am absolutely delighted that PS4 was able to reach this commemorative milestone in less than 9 months," Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House said in a statement.
"We're so grateful for the enormous support from PlayStation gamers worldwide, and we look forward to bringing even more exciting content and services in the months ahead."
The Tokyo Game Show event will run from Sept. 18 to Sept. 21 at the Makuhari Messe Convention Centre, Chiba, Japan.
