Justin Bieber's Mom Defends Son's Bad Behavior, He 'Has To Do Things His Own Way'

From his turbulent love life to his questionable night life, Justin Bieber has been no stranger to bad press as of late. Now the star's mom, Pattie Mallette, is speaking out about Bieber's bad behavior.

"My son is not a public figure to me, he is my son," the 38-year-old told E! News. "I can't predict what's going to be in the headlines."

Despite the trouble, Mallette insists she's supportive and has confidence the 19-year-old will turn it around.

"Justin has always been someone who has to do things his own way," she said. "I have to be able to believe he will do the right thing and he will come out on top."

Mallette is currently promoting her book, "Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom," which has been re-released in a new version geared towards teens.

In it she writes about her own troubles as a teen that included overcoming sexual abuse, drug addiction and even a suicide attempt. While Bieber's troubles may not be so serious, many worry he's heading down a self-destructive path.

Recent months have seen the star accused of reckless driving, hooking up with a random waitress, attacking paparazzi and showing up late to his own concerts. Just this week, the Biebs made headlines when a video was released of him peeing in a mop bucket and cursing Bill Clinton. He later apologized for the incident.

Bieber was also busted this week for underage partying. According to the Chicago Tribune, a Chicago-area nightclub was cited for admitting Bieber despite that fact that he's not 21. Club owners insist that the musician was not served alcohol and that he only "made a brief appearance" to support his friend DJ Tay James who was set to perform at the club that night.
