Katy Perry Prism Release Date: Singer Announces New Album, Talks Rob Pattinson Dating Rumors in ELLE U.K.(PHOTO)

Leave it to Katy Perry to find a completely creative way to announce her new album.

The 28-year-old singer revealed the title and release date for her latest studio effort by sending a golden mack truck out into the streets of Los Angeles. "Katy Perry. Prism. 10-22-13," was printed in large block letters on the trailer.

The news caused a social media frenzy, with tons of fans and friends tweeting about the truck.

"Wahoo. My girl's new album is announced. PRISM. 10.22.13 Get ready to be enLIGHTened. #YoureGonnaflip...," wrote Perry's stylist Johnny Wujek.

Perry also tweeted out the news writing, "Find the #PRISM semi, take a picture and I'll RT you. Don't worry, Los Angeles is just the first stop on the map."

The October arrival of "Prism" comes just weeks before the release of Lady Gaga's highly-anticipated new record, "ARTPOP." Gaga also announced her album in an unconventional way, tattooing the album title on her arm and posting a picture online.

In addition to announcing a new album, Perry is also shooting down dating rumors in the new issue of ELLE U.K. Perry told the mag that when rumors started circulating that she was dating "Twilight" heartthrob Robert Pattinson, she texted his ex Kristin Stewart to set the record straight.

"I sent her a text message saying 'I know you've seen this stuff, but you know I would never disrespect you.' I'm not that person," she said. "I'm just trying to be a friend to him but it is unfortunate that I do have a set of t*ts."

Perry also talked about her current relationship with John Mayer.

"He pulled away. That was a big hello for me," she said of their brief breakup in March. "I realized I could lose the person I loved and I had to deal with some things; issues I think a lot of women have."

The couple reconciled in June and Mayer even professed his love for the "Firework" singer at a recent concert, telling the crowd that she is "more incredible than I ever thought."
