Amanda Bynes is back in school. The 29-year-old, troubled actress has returned to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, California after dropping out of classes last August, People confirmed.

"We are all so proud of her, and can't wait to see her amazing designs on the runway someday," the actress' family lawyer, Tamar Arminak, told People. Arminak also said the "Hairspray" actress is "doing great."

Bynes initially began taking classes at the Fashion Institute in January 2014. Bynes was "originally going to be a fashion design major but has now decided to pursue merchandise product development," according to E! News.

In the Fall of 2014, reports suggested that the actress got expelled for cutting classes, but a former classmate said she "wasn't out of control and she never threw a fit." Another student said Amanda stopped taking classes after a skin procedure, saying, "Bynes had all plans to finish school, but she had a few procedures done and didn't want to be in public at FIDM."

At the time, Bynes tweeted that she would be transferring to NYU or Columbia University.

The actress has made headlines over the past couple of years for her erratic behaviour, including being placed on involuntary psychiatric hold, and being arrested for driving under the influence. Bynes has kept a much lower profile since being placed under a psychiatric hold at a treatment facility in October.

In November, Bynes revealed on Twitter that she had been diagnosed as bipolar and manic depressive and she was taking medication and seeing doctors weekly. Bynes is currently under the temporary conservatorship of her parents.

In June, Bynes' attorney David Esquibias said his client "is doing great. She appreciates all of the love and support she receives from family, friends and fans," according to People.
