The newest member of the Kardashian-West clan has arrived. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed their second child together - a baby boy - on Saturday. The 35-year-old reality star announced the exciting news on her official website.
"Kanye and I welcome our baby boy," the announcement read. Kardashian wrote on her website. "KANYE AND I WELCOME OUR BABY BOY!"
The newborn's name was not revealed. He joins his big sister, two-year-old North West.
"He's here!" the reality star tweeted Saturday morning, along with a photo of her and West holding hands. Hours before announcing the arrival of her son, Kardashian posted a selfie of her belly, with the caption, "Ready whenever you are lol."
Before the Thanksgiving holidays, Kardashian, who was rumored to be planning an induced labor, revealed that her second child was in the dangerous breech position. She expressed her concern about the dangerous of getting a C-section. Kardashian underwent a painful procedure in December to turn her baby around, according to E! News.
"This weekend I checked into the hospital and underwent a procedure called an ECV (External Cephalic Version, or a Version), which is done to manually turn the baby from a breech position to a head-down position," Kardashian, who admitted to gaining 52 pounds during her pregnancy, wrote. "They gave me an IV with medication to relax my uterus, and then three doctors attempted to work together to turn the baby.
"There was a risk that my water might break or the baby's heart rate could drop-in which case, an emergency C-section would then take place. I went in with my sisters and my husband. I was prepared for it all!"
The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star revealed in the September issue of C Magazine that she suffered from a condition called placenta accreta, a pregnancy condition that results in the placenta attaching itself to the wall of the uterus rather than getting expelled with the baby. She admitted that the condition made it harder for her to get pregnant a second time.
As for her second pregnancy, she said, "Well, they think I'll have placenta accreta again, so if the placenta grows a little bit deeper than it did last time, then they are prepared to have my uterus removed, which is a little scary for me. I think we're just gonna go day by day, see how overwhelming it is, and see how the delivery goes."
