The popular racing simulator game "Gran Turismo 6" is set to launch on Friday with technology that has been more than 15 years in the making. With such a rich history of development and improvement, the developers are no longer satisfied with just bringing the experience of driving to people's gaming consoles and is instead seeking to simulate every aspect of car ownership into the game.
According to Gamespot, "Gran Turismo 6" will feature a new GPS-powered course maker feature that will help players create a track based on real-life coordinates from their GPS units from the game's smartphone app.
For those who have wondered just how fast they can take that sharp turn on their morning commute or imagined a world where they didn't have to obey traffic laws on their local stretch of highway, the "Gran Turismo 6" companion app will let you coordinate your GPS data when you enable it on the app. It will then trace your movement and record how far you traveled in the real world. You will then be able to import that data into the game, which will then generate a racetrack that follows the same path as the recorded data.
While the new technology sounds fun, it is, of course, limited. It only tracks the path you take and doesn't factor in the size of the road you're on or the surrounding scenery. However, those features can be fine tuned in the course creator.
According to IGN, the game can boast 1,200 different cars available at launch and more to come as DLC later on. There are 33 locations, 71 different layouts and much more.
