Just two months after David Bowie tragically passed away from a long battle with cancer, his wife Iman Abdulmajid has also lost her mother.
The 60-year-old supermodel took to social media early Friday morning to announce that her mom had passed away on Thursday with a sweet photo of her, her parents and Bowie from their wedding day. It's unclear exactly what the cause of death was.
"Saddened by the death of my mom Maryan Baadi," Abdulmajid wrote. "May Allah grant her the highest jennah. I beg that you respect my family's privacy during our time of grief #ripmaryanbadi."
Just a few days before her mother passed, she took to Instagram to share an inspirational message. "Life doesn't get easier or more forgiving," the post read. "We get stronger and more resilient."
When Bowie passed on Jan. 10, just two days after his 69th birthday, it took about one month for his wife to break her silence on the iconic singer's death. "Love & gratitude," the uplifting message read, thanking her fans for their support during this difficult time. She and Bowie married in 1992 after just two years of dating.
"THANK YOU. The family of David Bowie is currently making arrangements for a private ceremony celebrating the memory of their beloved husband, father and friend," his official Facebook page read after his death. "They ask once again that their privacy be respected at this most sensitive of times. We are overwhelmed by and grateful for the love and support shown throughout the world."
While she has not really spoken out much about his death, it had been revealed that she was doing okay in the weeks following. "Iman is doing well," a source said at the time. "She has been spending lots of time with her daughter and is keeping busy."
The source then added that she had taken special notice in the many tributes made for Bowie. "[She] is very touched by all the support from friends, family and fans," the source said.
