'GTA Online' Updates: New Christmas-Themed Updates Put A Dusting of Snow On Los Santos

Rockstar Games could take the holiday off after the massive success it has had with the record-breaking release of "Grand Theft Auto V" earlier this year. Instead, it's going to be offering its fans on "Grand Theft Auto Online" a few in-game Christmas gifts from now until Jan. 5.

According to a post on the Rockstar Newswire, there are a number of special events and items that will be added to the game to help gamers celebrate the holidays including new seasonal-themed accessories like Santa Clause hats, Elf jackets, Elf shoes, Snowman masks, Reindeer antlers and much more.

Are you not impressed by the flashy new accessories and fun Christmas-themed get ups? Perhaps Rockstar can entice you with some sales that will be happening during the holiday promotion in GTA online from everything from select weapons, vehicles and apartments? Rockstar has announced that some of these items will be discounted in light of the holiday season, so if you were having trouble scrounging up enough cash for that big expensive item you want in-game, perhaps Christmas will be the time to steal some deals and walk away with a shiny new toy or living quarters.

Still not convinced it's a good time to log onto GTA Online. How about this, in honor of the winter season, Los Santos will be getting an uncharacteristically large dusting of snow. That's right, the entire map promises to be covered in a layer of fresh powder, which should make driving even more hazardous than it usually is.

If you have been thinking about getting yourself a nice off-road vehicle, now would be a good time as it is probably on sale and probably more necessary than ever.

In addition to the holiday theme, Rockstar has updated the camera app on the in-game cell phone for those shutter bugs who like to take snapshots of their exploits online. Now there are new filters, borders, facial expressions and more added permanently to the game. There has also been a Meme Creator feature that will no doubt be ripe for little quips and insight form around Los Santos.
