Charlotte Music Factory Shooting: Five Shot Near Studio Friday Night

Five people were shot Friday night near the NC Music Factory, a music studio, on Friday night, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.

A woman and two men were shot in a parking lot after Central Division patrol officers received a call for service to an assault with a deadly weapon. The three victims were immediately taken to Carolinas Medical Center, having sustained possibly life-threatening injuries.

Not long after, police then responded to a call for service regarding another assault with a deadly weapon at the intersection of Spring and Callahan streets, where a man with a vehicle drove himself there from the factory was shot, according to WSOCTV.

Officers were also informed about a fifth victim who drove to the Presbyterian Hospital by himself with a gunshot wound that is non-life-threatening.

The events leading up to the shootings remain unclear, as the police have said no person has been taken under custody. They are interrogating people they came across at a traffic stop.

A witness who was inside the studio when the shooting took place said she did not hear gunfire but did find a victim and a blood splatter when she opened the door, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Based on the information obtained by the police on the scene, the shooting happened because an argument began between several people who were inside the Queen City Underground.

They began shooting at each other, left, then continued to shoot, according to police. Investigation is still ongoing and the police are still interviewing people at the scene, according to FOX 46 Charlotte.
